Cassper apparently in R7-million debt after Moses Mabhida gig

Cassper Nyovest

Cassper Nyovest may have filled one of the biggest stadiums in Mzansi over the weekend, but his historic feat has apparently left him in R7-million debt.

In the hours following the show Cassper spoke about his frustration over “losing millions” on potential sponsorships and broken promises.

Speaking to SABC News on Tuesday the star revealed the extent of his losses and claimed his latest concert had got him R7-million in debt.

“Most often we find ourselves in positions where we need funding, we need sponsorships, from institutions like the government and we were not supported like we should be. For instance, we just came from (Moses) Mabhida (Stadium) and right now we are sitting with R7-million debt,” he said during the interview.

The Tito Mboweni hitmaker claimed that some departments and organisations pledged to help finance the concert but when it came down to the crunch they didn’t keep their promises.

Fans reacted with shock to the revelation and soon Cassper’s social media pages were buzzing in support.

The rapper went on to tell fans about the intense emotions he and his team felt in the lead up to the show.

“It was tough. I saw my manager cry for the first time. Just before I got on stage, as we were praying he broke down. That’s when I told myself, ‘Cassper, it’s your turn to carry the team now.’ The next day we killed the Global Citizen show. Blessed and favoured.”

Some fans even offered to start a crowdfunding initiative to raise money for Cassper’s debt.

Cassper thanked fans for their effort but said he was hoping that the government would still come through for him.
