Unlawful Shooting Of Two Amukoko Youth
On Thursday 11th of January 2018, at about 9pm. it was reported that a Patrol Squad from Pako Police Station Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Amukoko Lagos Nigeria, released two stray bullets that unfortunately ended the life of a young man named Azubuike Onefeli and left the other victim Chima also known as Dope Teli fighting for his life in the hospital.
The sad incident provoked the residents, and Amukoko youth which resulted to a march to the police station which later resulted to some of the angry youths throwing stones and other objects at the police station. it was also reported that the angry youths threw objects at the hospital that the deceased was first taken to but was rejected because the injury was critical andthere was no police report.
The unfortunate incident happened around Iludun Area of Amukoko. On that faithful evening, The deceased went out on an errand. on his way, he met up with some of his friends who were in a merry mood and stopped by to celebrate and share the good news with them because he had just been promoted in his place of work, just before the ugly incident occurred.
On that faithful day, The Pako Police Squad on duty, were on their usual Night Patrol when they stopped. Resident from the area told us that when the policemen are passing by in their patrol vehicle, people are expected to start running helter-skelter for fear of being raided for no reason and bail is usually high. The police stopped on the scene which led to everybody running, they chased after some of them and shot two of them. the bullet killed the first victim while the second victim was shot in the buttock and has been admitted into LUTH (Lagos State University Teaching Hospital).
An eye witness spoke with 9jahotstars representative he said ”After the policeman had shot one of the victim from distance, he went close to the spot where the victim has fallen down helplessly, looked at him and walked away”.
Residents of Amukoko, have been bitterly lamenting over the death of Azubuke, and how sad they feel for his life span being cut short unlawfully. and had condemned the evil act and wants to take further step to reporting the issue to the Human Rights Organization.
The Local Government Chairman Hon Fatai Shuaib Ajidagba to address the issue and to calm the angry youth down, but from the looks of things the masses wanted full justice for Azubuike.
A peaceful protest was conducted to stop unlawful killings and unlawful shootings. more updates coming on that soon.
